We’re excited to share a significant script update within the Police Department that will enhance the experience for everyone on the server!
In the past, the arrest process had some flaws that led to unfair outcomes. Here’s how it worked:
/charge Julius robbery
/charge Julius murder
/arrest Julius
, calculating the total jail time based on the number of charges. For example, if Julius had two charges against him, he would receive:
However, this system led to imbalances. A player like Jordan could face significantly longer jail time for relatively minor offenses. For instance, if Jordan was charged with multiple lesser offenses:
/charge Jordan illegal substances
/charge Jordan illegal materials
/charge Jordan unmarked money
/charge Jordan illegal weapon
/charge Jordan speeding
Jordan would end up with:
In this scenario, Julius, who committed serious crimes like robbery and murder, would only receive 20 minutes, while Jordan, with lesser offenses, would face 50 minutes. Clearly, this was an unfair system.
With the recent update, we’ve revamped the charging process to create a more balanced and equitable justice system for all players. Here’s what has changed:
/charge
an individual, a dialogue box will now appear, displaying a list of predefined charges. This update ensures that punishments are determined by the severity of the crimes committed rather than the quantity of charges. Serious offenses, like robbery and murder, will result in substantial jail time, while lesser crimes will receive appropriate penalties. This approach reflects a fairer and more just system for everyone involved.
We appreciate your ongoing support as we work to improve the gameplay experience in GTAM. Stay tuned for more updates!
